“Why Torture is Wrong…” is Durang’s satire about
America’s growing homeland ‘insecurity.’ It tells the
story of a young woman who begins to doubt her new
husband. Is he a terrorist, crazy, or both? Durang’s
black comedy is set in an era of yellow, orange and red
alerts.
Director Mark Spina and cast will lead
interactive audience talkbacks after every Friday
performance. “We expect that the script’s themes will
provoke a wide range of questions, opinions and
perspectives,” says Spina. “Dialoguing with our
audiences and deliberating on these debates helps The
Theater Project deliver on our commitment to inspire,
provoke, and make live theater matter. The cast will
also be available after each performance to take up
individual Q&A with the audience.
All Theater Project performances are on
the ground level of Union County College’s two-story
Cranford complex. The 75-seat venue can accommodate up
to 12 wheelchairs.
The flexible seating allows for
companion and seeing-eye dog accommodation. The audio
described performance for “Why Torture is Wrong…” will
be on Thursday, July 8 at 8 p.m.
