UCC’s Theater Project Presents Dark Comedy ‘Manuscript’ in April
CRANFORD – The Theater Project, Union County College’s (UCC)
Professional Theater Company, will kick off its 2010 season with a
three-weekend run of Paul Grellong’s dark comedy ‘Manuscript’
opening Thursday, April 15 and running through May 2.
Performances will be held in the Roy Smith Theater at UCC’s
Cranford campus located at 1033 Springfield Avenue. Performance
times are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sunday
matinees at 3:00 p.m. Tickets range from $10-25 and can be reserved
by contacting Brown Paper Tickets at 1-800-838-8006. Information is
also available atwww.thetheaterproject.org.
‘Manuscript’ centers on three ambitious college freshmen whose
discovery of an unpublished manuscript drives them into a series of
startlingly cruel consequences. Little is what it seems in this hip,
witty and unpredictable dark comedy that is full of provocative
twists and turns. No one can be trusted as the three lose control on
their manipulative quest for fame and revenge in this universal tale
about deception, ambition and loyalty.
Written by Paul Grellong, an award-nominated writer for NBC’s Law
& Order: Special Victims Unit, ‘Manuscript’ ran off-Broadway in 2005
and again in 2007. Variety called the play “a twisty dark comedy
about ambition and ruthlessness, with a fancifully elaborate
Hitchcockian revenge plot up its sleeve”
The Theater Project’s exciting 2010 season continues in July with
the New Jersey premiere of Christopher Durang’s recent off-Broadway
smash hit: ’Why Torture is Wrong…and the People Who Love Them’ (from
July 8-August 1) and in September with the Regina Taylor musical
‘Crowns’ (from September 23-October 17).
Begun in 1994, The Theater Project is known as Union County
College’s Professional Theater Company and is celebrating another
season of producing new works and contemporary classics. An
award-winning Associate Member of the New Jersey Theater Alliance,
The Theater Project is recognized for its color-blind casting policy
and provocative “actor’s view of theater” seating where the audience
literally sits on stage with the actors where the action is. For
