“The Theater Project is… a gem, a little-known powerhouse of talent... energy and intelligence just waiting to be discovered by those hungry for theater on the cutting edge.”

A real nice clambake

by Peter Filichia, Star-Ledger Staff

The title of the play is "Omnium Gatherum," and just in case your Latin isn't up to par, it's an expression that means "a gathering of miscellaneous people." Suzie has decided to invite a motley crew to her dinner party, and the results may not be all she hoped for. Theresa Rebeck and Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros' 2003 play, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, is receiving its New Jersey premiere, courtesy of the Theatre Project in Cranford.

The company's A-line troops -- including Harriett Trangucci, Rick Delaney and Gary Glor -- will eat, drink and be merry (at least part of the time). "Omnium Gatherum" plays Oct. 5-20 at the Theater Project, Union County College, 1033 Springfield Ave., Cranford. Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 Thursdays; $20 all other performances. Call (908) 659-5189 or visit www.thetheaterproject.com.
