Misalliance, sorry to say, runs only through Sunday, August 30th. Wish I’d seen it sooner so I could advise you to get a ticket at your leisure. But leisure is not to be had! Just get there and laugh your head off as I and everyone else at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey did Friday night in Madison. Hurry up!
What a perfectly wrought piece of work it is. George Bernard Shaw, again, sorry to say, never turned me on in the past. So, I’m an idiot, but they must have been dreadful, heavy-handed productions I sat through some years ago never cracking a smile. Let me tell you – he turns me on now. I adore GBS. Yes, I knew he was Irish, but that part of our shared DNA never kicked in until Friday. Soul mates now – Georgie and me!
That’s all because of director Stephen Brown-Fried and the enormously talented cast of wonderful people who know exactly what they are doing and whatMr. Brown-Fried is doing, and all the technical people know what they and everyone else are doing too. Theatrical synchronicity beyond belief here. Run, don’t walk!
