The show runs from Sept. 25 to Oct. 12, in the Roy Smith Theater of Union County College, 1033 Spring-field Ave., in Cranford.
Performances are at 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 3 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $22; $10 for students. On Thursdays all tickets are $15. Teachers pay $10.

Author Jane Anderson explores the
connections between art and science, linking
characters like the impressionist painter
Claude Monet and The Teacher, a fictional
impression of Christa McAu-liffe, the actual
teacher who was chosen to ride the space
shuttle with the astronauts.
The play takes place on the day of the
Challenger tragedy.
Jane Anderson has written The Positively
True Adven-tures of the Alleged Texas
Cheerleader-Murdering Mom for which she
received an Emmy, a Penn Award and Writers
Guild Award for best teleplay.
Her other screenwriting credits include The
Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio; How to Make
an American Quilt; and It Could Happen to
You.
The cast of Defying Gravity, features
Harriett Trangucci of Summit, Jenelle Sosa
of Jersey City, Gary Glor of Essex Fells,
Angela Della Ventura of Watchung, Jeff
Maschi of Highland Park, Daaimah Talley of
Plainfield and Andre De Sandies of
Englewood.
The Roy Smith Theater is wheelchair
accessible. The 75-seat venue is able to
accommodate as many as 12 wheelchairs. The
flexible seating allows for companion and
seeing-eye dog accommodation. The Theater
offers one audio described performance for
each production.
Patrons utilizing this service receive a
pre-show orientation to the physical setting
and the play.

taped programs can be made available upon
three weeks prior notice.
