The students start out with ensemble building exercises and learn the basics of improvisation such as playing a variety of emotions and characters, presenting oneself with confidence, and most importantly listening and agreement.
Then, building on those skills, they learn short-form improv games which are then performed in front of an audience.

Lulu French first took improv classes at Gotham City Improv almost two decades ago and has been improvising ever since. In addition to being a graduate of GCI, she has also studied improv under Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh, and Matt Besser — original members of the Upright Citizens Brigade, Armando Diaz — founder of the Magnet Theater, and with various other Second City alumni such as Todd Stashwick (12 Monkeys). She has appeared in numerous improv performances in NYC improv theaters such as Gotham City Improv, the Magnet Theater, and Upright Citizens Brigade.
TV credits include Yearbook:1983 on the Discovery Times Channel and various roles on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Corporate industrial credits include performing for companies such as Pfizer, Cephalon, and Merck. She was also seen in the JCPenney viral campaign, "Return to the Doghouse," and wrote and performed in video segments called the "Mommy Minute" for the parenting website, Parent Society. She also co-starred in a video short for MTV.com with current SNL member Pete Davidson. She is a cast member of the improv group, Duvall and one half of the improv duo, Beilis and French.
Lulu first started out as a musical theater performer. In her youth she danced with the Appalachian Ballet Company, received voice scholarships while a Music Major at The University of Tennessee and eventually graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. She has numerous stock and regional theater credits performing in musicals such as Into the Woods, Tomfoolery, Nunsense, and Karaoke the Musical and the national tours of My Fair Lady and She Loves Me.
Lulu has been teaching improv since 2000 and has had the privilege to teach for organizations such as Gotham City Improv, The Queens Theater in the Park, Arts Horizons, The South Orange Maplewood Adult School, IN Studios, Beyond the Bell, and Dreamcatcher Rep in addition to teaching corporate workshops for companies such as Pfizer and AstraZeneca. After having taught improv in NYC for over a decade she is glad she can share her passion of improv with her local community.
