Dear Playwright,
Congratulations! You have been selected to be honored at
our sixth annual Young Playwrights Competition. This award
is in recognition of the quality of your work, and a vote of
confidence in your future growth.
Three prize winners have been selected to receive
savings bonds and to have their work performed by the
professional actors of THE THEATER PROJECT at the awards
ceremony. Six additional writers will be presented with
honorable mention citations and gift certificates.
Channel 36/Summit is planning to interview the winners
and tape the awards ceremony. On Saturday, March 15, we ask
that all four winners arrive by 2:00 PM at the
Atrium/Student Commons of Union County College’s Cranford
campus to be photographed with contest sponsor Bill Mesce.
The College is located at 1033 Springfield Avenue in
Cranford. The Student Commons is located near the gym and
theater towards the rear of the campus.
The program for the 3:00 PM presentation is as follows:
Welcome to our audience.
Presentation of gift
certificates to honorable mention participants.
Performance of Third Prize
winner’s play / acceptance speech by winner.
Performance of Second Prize
winner’s play / acceptance speech by the winner.
Performance of First Prize

(Acceptance speeches should be
no longer than 2 minutes.)
Please note: The four winners must provide us with social

Once again, congratulations, and thank you for
