YOUNG GEORGE - please record both scenes

 1.

(George serves Mary at the drugstore ice cream counter)

YOUNG GEORGE: Made up your mind yet?

YOUNG MARY: I’ll take Chocolate.

YOUNG GEORGE: With coconuts?

YOUNG MARY: I don’t like coconuts.

YOUNG GEORGE: You don’t like coconuts? Say, brainless, don’t you know where coconuts come from? From Tahiti,  the Fiji Islands, the Coral Sea! I’m going out exploring someday, you watch. And I’m going to have a couple of harems, and maybe three or four wives. Wait and see.

--------------------------------------------

2.

(Mr. Gower’s only son died of influenza, and he tried to lose his grief in whiskey.)

GOWER: (drunk) George! Mrs. Blaine’s called twice! What happened to her prescription? You lost it, didn’t ya!

YOUNG GEORGE: No, Mr. Gower. Here. Here it is.

GOWER: Why, you! You good for nothing!

(GOWER slaps George repeatedly during the scene)

GOWER: Don’t you know that Blaine girl’s very sick? (Slap)

YOUNG GEORGE: Mr. Gower, my ear! You’re hurting my sore ear!

GOWER: I’ll teach you to loaf, you lazy brat! (Slap)

YOUNG GEORGE: Mr. Gower, you don’t know what you’re doing! You put something wrong in those capsules!

GOWER: Shut up! (Slap)

YOUNG GEORGE: I know you feel bad! But look, Mr. Gower. This bottle! You used this bottle to make up the capsules. It’s poison!

GOWER: Poison?

YOUNG GEORGE: Don’t hurt my sore ear again.

GOWER: Poison... (breaking down) Oh, George... George. (sobs)

YOUNG GEORGE: That’s why I didn’t deliver ‘em, Mr. Gower.

GOWER: (sobbing) Oh, George, George!

YOUNG GEORGE: Mr. Gower, I won’t ever tell anyone. I won’t ever tell a soul. Hope to die, I won’t.

YOUNG VIOLET/MARY -- please record this TWICE, once as Mary and once as Violet

note: Violet talks to Mary differently then she talks to George

YOUNG VIOLET: Hello, George.  ---  Hello, Mary.

YOUNG MARY: Hello, Violet.

YOUNG GEORGE: Hello, Violet. Two cents worth of shoelaces?

YOUNG VIOLET: She was here first.

YOUNG MARY: I’m still thinking.

YOUNG GEORGE: Shoelaces?

YOUNG VIOLET: Please, Georgie. ---  I like him.

YOUNG MARY: You like every boy!

YOUNG VIOLET: What’s wrong with that?

YOUNG GEORGE: Here you are.

YOUNG VIOLET: Thank you, Georgie. (exits)

YOUNG GEORGE: Made up your mind yet?

YOUNG MARY: I’ll take Chocolate.

YOUNG GEORGE: With coconuts?

YOUNG MARY: I don’t like coconuts.

YOUNG GEORGE: You don’t like coconuts? Say, brainless, don’t you know where

coconuts come from? From Tahiti- the Fiji Islands the Coral Sea!

GOWER: George! You’re not paid to be a canary! (George turns away)

YOUNG GEORGE: (to Gower) Coming, sir.

YOUNG MARY: Is this the ear you can’t hear on? George Bailey, I’ll love you ‘till the

day I die.

YOUNG GEORGE: (to Mary) I’m going out exploring some day, you watch. And I’m

going to have a couple of harems, and maybe three or four wives. Wait and see.

ZUZU

note: Zuzu is held by George (dad) during this dialogue

ZUZU: Daddy! My Christmas bell! You didn’t forget!

GEORGE: Forget? Honey, here’s your bell.

SFX: Bell rings

ZUZU: Daddy!

MARY: Darling, what’s this on the table here? This book?

GEORGE: “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.”

MARY: Look, George. There’s something written in it.

GEORGE: (reads) Dear George, remember no man is a failure who has friends. Thanks for the   wings. Love, Clarence.

MARY: Clarence?

GEORGE: Yeah. He’s a very dear friend of mine.

SFX: bell rings

ZUZU: Daddy, Mrs. Welsh says every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.

GEORGE: That’s right, Zuzu. That’s right. Attaboy, Clarence.
